Marine veteran stops by Intermediate School

Cliff Delano, veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, spoke to 3rd-6th grade students at Towanda Intermediate School at 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 10. He was in the Marine Corps for 24 years and served in Vietnam.
Delano wanted to visit the students after receiving a letter last year from fifth grader Westin Rose. Some classes at Towanda Intermediate send letters to military veterans for Veterans Day.
Delano noted that Friday was a special day for the Marines; it marked the branch's 242nd anniversary. During his speech, Delano explained multiple aspects of the Marine Corps, described what it takes to be a Marine and encouraged the kids to set goals – and meet those goals – in their own lives.
"Start working on it now, and you'll be ready. And the thing I want to tell you is: be honest and be polite, and you'll make it just fine," Delano said.
