WFO Guys  Car Show Saturday
The annual WFO Guys Car Show will be held from 2 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 5, 2017, in downtown Augusta.  $5 entry fee for cars.  Contact Jeremy Lawson at 765-2668 to enter.  The event is free admission for spectators.

Special NAMI program Sunday         
"In Our Own Voices", an interactive program/discussion sponsored by National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 6, 2017, at Life Church, Augusta.  Public is invited.

Butler County Golf Open Aug. 12
The Butler County Golf Open, sponsored by the Augusta Chamber of Commerce will be held on Saturday, Aug. 12, 2017, at the Augusta Country Club, 1610 Fairway Dr.  For more information, call 775-6339.

Clothing Give-Away Aug. 12
The Augusta Church of Christ, 3500 N. Ohio St., will host a free clothing give-away from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Aug. 12.  All sizes.  Free coffee and cookies.

Butler County Old Schools Reunion
The annual Butler County Old Schools Reunion will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 12, at the Augusta Senior Center, 640 Osage.  Bring something for pot luck for the meal at noon and stay the afternoon visiting and telling stories about the old school days.  For information, contact Connie Harper, 316-742-3355 and Mary Weston, 316-775-6836.

2017 Cabin Class Golf Tourney Aug. 26
The third annual Cabin Classic Golf Tournament, sponsored by the Augusta Historical Society, will be held on Saturday, Aug. 26, 2017, at the Augusta Country Club.  Tourney begins at 8 a.m. and lunch will be provided.  Please contact the museum at 775-5655 for more information and to register.

Summer Lunch program
The Augusta Summer Lunch program will continue through Friday, Aug. 11, at the Augusta United Methodist Church, 2420 N. Ohio and  is served from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.  The meal is free for anyone 18 and under.  Transportation is available. Call 775-1116 for arrangements.

Douglass happenings

National Night Out in Douglass tonight
The community of Douglass will hold the annual National Night Out event from 5:30 to 9 p.m., at the City Park.  A free hot dog supper will be served from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. under the pavilion.  On site will be the Preparedness Dog, representatives from the Butler County Sheriff’s Office, and the Butler County Animal Response Team.

El Dorado happenings

Municipal Band concert
The El Dorado Municipal Band will perform at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 8, at the band shell, 900 N. Taylor.   More information on the band can be found at: eldoradomunicipalband.com or on the Facebook page.

Back 2 School Bash Saturday
The Coutts Museum of Art, 110 N. Main, will host a Bugs and Bees rotating gallery to display children’s interpretation of summer bugs through arts and crafts through Friday, July 21, 2017.  Drop by during normal business hours.

Legislative panel discussion
The Women for Kansas, Butler County, is partnering with Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital to host a bi-partisan panel of Kansas State representatives for discussion of the past legislative session from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Aug. 5, at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital, El Dorado.  The event is free and the public is invited.
