The smell of fresh donuts, coffee and other delicious treats will soon be filling the new Turner’s Coffee and Donuts in Augusta.  The anticipated opening of the new downtown business at 507 State Street is Tuesday.
Owner Anthony Turner, a member of the longtime El Dorado family that is famous for their donuts and dedication to customer service, is excited about bringing their product to Augusta.
“My family has been in this business for over 30 years.  It’s what I know.  I’ve done all the jobs involved,” Turner added, “It’s been my dream to have my own business.”
Assisting him is his girlfriend Chelsea Jones and her 4-year-old daughter Cambrigh Jones.  Chelsea, an Augusta girl, lends a woman’s touch to the operation.
“Chelsea is the assistant, decorator, and pretty much everything, and Cambrigh is very excited about ‘her’ shop,” advised Turner.
In addition to serving up 60-90 different types of donuts, bear claws, long johns, and other delectables from original Turner recipes, the menu will also feature bierocks, biscuits and gravy,  veal sandwiches, sausage rolls and hot sandwiches that can be enjoyed at lunch.
Fresh items will be transported daily from the El Dorado bakery at first, but when it becomes apparent that more is needed, the Augusta bakery will begin baking every day.
Turner is looking forward to being a part of the downtown merchants and has been happy with the support from the community.
“It’s great how the community is supporting us.  We’ve been welcomed by other business owners.  We invite everyone to stop by.”
Turner added, “I want to thank everyone for being so nice and I’d like to especially thank my parents Deanna and Lloyd Turner for helping to make this happen.”
The shop is open 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, and groups are welcome.  You can find Turner’s Coffee & Donuts of Augusta on Facebook.
