Youth Leadership Butler began in 1993 as a program of Leadership Butler, Inc. Participants of the program are chosen from high schools in Butler County. The program was the first of its kind in the state and has paved the way for other youth leadership programs throughout the State of Kansas and across the nation.

Volunteers from the Leadership Butler Alumni and staff plan and facilitate the curriculum. The program sessions are held on Monday evenings from September through October where participants plan and implement a class project to benefit youth in Butler County. The 2014 class will announce their project at graduation.

Former radio and TV personality, Shelly Hansel, who currently serves as the Executive Director of the Wellington Chamber of Commerce, will be the guest speaker for the event.
