Augusta's volleyball had several chances to win sets Tuesday night at the Orioles' home-opening triangular, but they kept falling a couple of points short. In the end, Augusta lost two three-set matches to Clearwater and Collegiate.

Against Clearwater, the Orioles and Indians trade 10 straight points at the end of the first set, but the Indians took a 25-24 lead on a kill, and the Orioles made an offensive error to drop the set. In the second set, Clearwater looked like it would run away with the match after building a 23-17 lead, but the Orioles showed grit as they clawed their way with a 7-0 run. Sophie Dalziel had two kills during the stretch, and Bailey Carr later had a dump kill to keep the set going. Clarice Dalziel later got a kill, and the Indians made an error on the ensuing play as the Orioles took the set 29-27.

The Orioles again were down big late in the third set, but rallied to keep it close. The Indians got a big kill to finish off the match for a 26-24, 27-29, 25-22 win.

The Orioles dominated Collegiate in the opening set of the nightcap, but the Spartans gained a little moment at the end of the first set before the Orioles won it. That paid off for Collegiate, which finished the second set on a 7-1 run and had an 8-0 run in the third set to propel the comeback win, 22-25, 25-19, 25-19.
