With their very first match of the season, the Andover Central Jaguars got a chance at redemption.

Central faced a tough McPherson squad to start Saturday’s season-opening tournament in Hutchinson. The same McPherson squad that beat the Jaguars at the Class 4A-Div. I state tournament last season. This time around, Central came out on top by beating the Bullpups 15-25, 25-19, 25-15.

Central got straight-set wins against Campus (25-21, 25-16), Newton (25-13, 25-20), Salina Central (25-20, 25-11) and Goddard-Eisenhower (25-22, 25-19).

Julia Joseph led the Jaguars in kills for the tournament. She totaled 42 to average 3.8 kills per set. Becca Schulte was second with 28 kills (2.5 average).

Amanda Kakoulias led the Jaguars with 12 blocks and two assists on the day. Schulte had a team-high 34 digs. Beth Schulte was second (22).
