  • Amy Louise Lawrence, 60, died on Sunday, Aug.  24, 2014, at her home in Shawnee, Kans.  
    A private family memorial service will be held with burial at Walnut Valley Memorial Park Cemetery, El Dorado.  
    Amy was born Dec. 14, 1953 in El Dorado, to Jay and Iris (Henman) Lawrence.  She graduated from El Dorado High School in 1971 and Kansas State University in 1975 with a degree in horticulture.   She made her home in Kansas City and worked as a horticulturist and later in sales and marketing.  Throughout her adult life, Amy provided a home for women who were in need of a roof over their head and took pride in helping people get back on their feet. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed working in her flower beds.  She always found time to help and be a good friend to others in her neighborhood.
     Amy was preceded in death by her father, Jay Lawrence.
    Survivors include: her mother, Iris Lawrence of El Dorado; brothers, Richard Lawrence and wife Sue of San Angelo, Texas, Dan and wife Jane of Weatherford, Texas,  Rod  and wife Hatsie of Lenexa, and Jim and wife Diane of Winfield; sister, Martha Lanpher and husband Curt of Lawrence; brother, Tom and wife Stacey of Plano, Texas;  nieces and nephews, Matt Lawrence and wife Karen, Brad and Joe Lawrence, Kara Lawrence, Lindsay Lawrence and fiancé Garrett, Ali Geitz and husband Jon, Ben Lawrence and wife Jenna, Codi and Sam Lawrence,  Julie Lawrence, Brian Lawrence and wife Peggy, Adam Lawrence and fiancé Kayla,  Renee Hartford and husband Brett, Brad Lanpher, and Landon, Ava and Hadley Lawrence; great-nieces and nephews, Ali and Jon’s children, Cameron and Carson Geitz;  Ben and Jenna’s daughter, Rachel Lawrence;  Renee and Brett’s daughter, Selah Hartford.
    Arrangements have been made through Heartland Cremation and Burial Society.
