  • Coming off a 26-13 record and returning six starters, Circle High School volleyball could be poised to make a bit of noise in 2014.
The motivation is there for Circle High after narrowly missing state a season ago, as the Thunderbirds were the sub-state runner-up to Andover Central.
But that could change in 2014. As previously mentioned, Circle returns a plethora of starters, including seniors Katie Frankenbery (setter, named to All-League First Team in 2013), Allyssa Kirkham (libero, made All-League Second Team), Alison Kirkham (setter), Leah Metzger (middle hitter) and juniors Caylie Kifer (outside hitter, All- League honorable mention) and Andie Nibarger.
Circle head coach Shelly Nibarger couldn't be any happier, considering she has four senior leaders to show underclassmen what it takes to be successful.
"I think we have really good chemistry," Nibarger said. "I have four good senior leaders, so I'm really excited about that. This is one of those years where my job is a lot easier. When I have seniors that are role models and can set the tone of practice to come out, get right on the court and get busy, I don't have to say a whole lot. It makes my job a lot easier."
