  • Butler County teams to host scrimmages this week

  • With the school year back into full swing, El Dorado athletics have already begun preparing for the upcoming 2014 season, and next week, fans will get an opportunity to see the Wildcats in action.
    The volleyball team will host an intrasquad scrimmage from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. The freshmen will take on the JV squad at 6 p.m., while JV faces varsity at 6:30. The Red and Black Scrimmage concludes with the varsity team facing alumni at 7.
    On Friday, the Wildcat football squad will throw on the pads and appear under the lights for the first time in its annual scrimmage at BG Products Veteran Sports Complex at 7 p.m. The scrimmage figures to be a tune- up for the Wildcats' season opener against Mulvane on Sept. 5.
    • Augusta’s volleyball scrimmage will be Thursday night of next week. The Orioles will play a, intra-squad scrimmage, then will compete against former Orioles in the alumni match afterwards.
    Augusta’s boys soccer team will play its scrimmage match at 6 p.m. Aug. 30. After that, the Orioles will play the annual alumni match. Both matches will be on the artificial turf field at Hillier Stadium.
    The football team will kick off its scrimmage festivities at 7:15 p.m. Friday, August 29. The Booster Club will have a pep rally before the scrimmage. The Booster Club also is hosting its annual watermelon feed starting at 8:30.
    • The Andover High vollleyball team will play its scrimmage match at about 7:30 Wednesday evening. The soccer team’s scrimmage will be at about 8:30 that same night. The Trojans’ football scrimmage will be at 6 p.m. next Friday.
    • Andover Central will have its fall sports team introductions next Thursday night. The football team’s scrimmage will follow after that.
