  • First degree murder charges were filed against El Dorado resident Justin Edwards this afternoon for the alleged killing of an 18-month old child.
Edwards made a first appearance in Butler County District Court before Judge David Ricke and bond was set at $500,000.
Following Jayla Haag's death in 2012, the Butler County attorney choose not to charge Edwards with first degree murder, seeing as an autopsy had not yet been conducted on Haag.
Haag's mother, Alyssa Haag, currently is serving time in a prison in Topeka Kan., after pleading guilty to reckless involuntary manslaughter in Jayla's death.
Edwards is currently awaiting his preliminary hearing scheduled for 9 a.m. Oct. 1.
