The Augusta Chamber hosted its annual Golf Open at the Augusta County Club this past Saturday. A total of 56 golfers took part in the competition.
The Chamber’s 18-hole, four-person scramble was sponsored by INTRUST Bank. LakePoint Nursing Center sponsored the barbecue lunch that was served. Beverages for the tournament were sponsored by PT Plus Physical Therapy and A. Brown Liquor.
Taking home the first-place prize of $500 was the team made up of Kevin Hayden, Trey Hayden, Logan Hayden and Trint Roberts. They finished with a score of 57, or 15 under par.
The second-place prize of $300 went to Jace Giannetti, Mike Todd, Dave Crum and Shane Loy with their score of 59, or 13 under par.
The third-place, $200 prize went to the Susan B. Allen team made of Gene Kimble, Dr. Larry Shank, Steve Bland and Eric Grooms. They had a score of 60, or 12 under par.
Several contests were held throughout the course, with the winners receiving golf clubs, apparel and a bike rack from Gear Up, Inc, among other prizes. Jace Giannetti took home the prize for Closest to the Line. Joe Garst won Longest Drive. Mike Clifton took home prize for Closest to the Pin. AJ House won the Longest Putt contest. These contests were sponsored by Armfield Dentistry, The Golf Warehouse, Gear Up, and Madrigal & Associates.
There was also a putting contest and a raffle for a round of golf compliments of Crestview Country Club. Mike Lakey of Global Parts took home the $100 prize in the 50/50 Putting Contest with his putt of 4.75”. The round of golf for four went to Nick Hoefgen of Family 1st Living.
“The tournament was a great success, and our golfers did well in the sweltering heat,” said Sarah Hoefgen, Executive Director of the Chamber. “And Warner Harrison’s delicious pulled pork sandwiches at lunch were a high point for everyone.”
