  • Bayneville Grange #1810, Augusta, held their yearly Community Service recognition on July 27 at the Augusta Senior Citizens and Friendship Center.
Barbeque and potluck dinner started the evening’s activity with nearly 40 members and guests present. Local community Granges throughout the state are given the opportunity through State Grange programs to recognize community citizens/groups each year with Community Support and “You Make A Difference” awards. Nominees from each community Grange are then eligible for selection as overall state winner to be recognized at the yearly State Convention, this year to be held in Wichita in September.
Bayneville Grange awarded this year’s Community Support recognition to the Augusta United Methodist Church for providing a facility which opens its doors and welcomes not only the congregation but community groups to use the facility for their activities.  Several church members were present to accept the award.
The “You Make a Difference Award” was presented to Kelly Modlin of Augusta for his continual volunteering in the community including the Annual Free Thanksgiving Dinner and Brick Street Festival held this year in downtown Augusta.  Kelly and his family were present for the recognition.
Following the awards, all played Grange Bingo with the winner of the blackout receiving a $25 donation by Bayneville Grange given in their name to their favorite charity.   Winner was Jr. Grange member Bodee Branscum, here from Arkansas visiting his grandparents Richard and Marci Tennissen.  Donation has been sent to Bodee’s elementary school PTO who is making improvements to local kids football field.
Earlier in the day, Grange members met and drafted resolutions to be sent to State Grange Convention for action by elected delegates.
