  • Here are five ways to have fun this weekend.
    1. The big movies opening this week are “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,” a PG-13 action flick starring the famous heroes in a halfshell; “The Hundred Foot Journey,” a PG drama starring Helen Mirren; and “Into the Storm,” the PG-13 movie that wants to be the new “Twister.”
    2. The deliciously bizarre holiday Sneak Some Zucchini Onto Your Neighbor’s Porch Night is Friday, so if you’ve got some extra zucchini, plan an outing to sneak it onto a neighbor’s porch or doostep! Or be more traditional and make some zucchini bread and give that to neighbors in person.
    3. Saturday is Bowling Day, a day designed to celebrate bowling. The wonderful thing about bowling is that it doesn’t matter how athletic you are, you can be good at it - and have fun. See if you can book a lane Saturday and hold an outing for family and/or friends.
    4. Saturday also is Garage Sale Day, a time to do some cleaning around your house and make a little money in the process. Check your town’s regulations, prepare your stuff for sale and sell, sell, sell!
    5. In sports, this weekend we again have Major League Baseball, NASCAR and Major League Soccer, so you’ll have plenty to watch on TV. Check the newspaper for schedules.
