The West’s special team and defense record a field and a safety to start the annual Shrine Bowl, a game of the top high school players in the state. The West’s defense shutout the East team for three quarters on way to a 21-6 victory.

The East team scored on a 93-yard touchdown pass play, but missed the extra point to take a 6-5 lead after the first quarter.

The teams were scoreless the second quarter, but the West scored on two touchdown passes, with one missed extra point, to take a commanding lead. The East went scoreless the entire second half, as well.

The West added a field goal in the fourth quarter.

The West outrushed the East by more than 100 yards (126-11). Passing yards were nearly even (183-182).
