  • Here are five ways to have fun this weekend.
    1. The big movies opening this week are “Hercules,” a PG-13 action flick about the mythic figure starring the almost-mythic Dwayne Johnson (aka Rock); “Lucy,” an R sci-fi thriller starring Scarlett Johansson; and “The Fluffy Movie,” a PG-13 film about comedian Gabriel Iglesias.
    2. Nerds (and, well, basically anyone who likes pop culture) rejoice! Comic Con International runs through this weekend. If you can’t make it to San Diego, there will be plenty of news, videos and much more from the star-studded event. Go to the official site for more details: http://www.comic-con.org/.
    3. Saturday is National Dance Day, a day designed to get people to dance and get some exercise. Hold a dance competition among your friends, learn a new dance, take a class - whatever, just get moving!
    4. Did you know Parents’ Day is a real thing? It sure is, and it’s recognized by Congress. A congressional resolution said the day is for “recognizing, uplifting, and supporting the role of parents in the rearing of children.” It will be celebrated Sunday, so, parents, do something special that day!
    5. On the sports front, this weekend we again have Major League Baseball, NASCAR and Major League Soccer, so you’ll have plenty to watch on TV. Check the newspaper for schedules.
