There is power in prayer
In James 5:16 the Bible teaches “…the effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much.”
There is no doubt that there is power in prayer. However, have you ever considered, what prayer teaches us about God?
Consider these following facts:
God is good. The Bible speaks of the goodness of God. Psalm 136, begins and ends with the goodness of God. “Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; For His loving kindness is everlasting.”
“Give thanks to the God of heaven, for His loving kindness is everlasting” (Psalm 136: 1; 26). The Israel of old remembered the goodness of God in good times as well as in bad, in prosperity and famine. Prayer teaches us that God is good!
God is real. This world did not just happen it was created. We were also created from this same God. The Bible teaches us that before the world was ever created God existed! Genesis 1:1 tells us “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” Prayer teaches us that God is real.
God is near. Paul said, “That they should seek God, if perhaps they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us; for in Him we live and move and exist” (Acts 17:27, 28). In addition, James 4: 8 says, “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.” Remember this and you will pray often.
There is power in prayer and it is the Christian’s lifeline to God!
