  • At approximately 11:30 p.m. Friday, Andover police officers observed an unusually large gathering of young people at 301 Cypress Court in Andover.
Officers made contact with two young men standing in the street who smelled of alcohol and were under the age of 21, according to Capt. Justin Phillips, with the Andover Police Department. While the officers were talking to the two men in the street, people began running from the home in all directions.
Officers were then approached by people who were responsible for watching the home while the owners were out of town. The caretaker of the home indicated the owner’s son was having a party and they requested officers disband the party.
Andover officers were assisted by deputies from the Butler County Sheriff’s Office with disbanding the party and identifying persons who were drinking under age.  Six adults and six juveniles were issued notices to appear in court for consumption of alcohol.  Officers notified the parents of those juveniles who had consumed alcohol.
One person was cited for unlawfully hosting minors consuming alcohol and contributing to a child’s misconduct.
The juveniles will go to the district attorney and the adults will go through municipal court.
