They held public hearings for two residential sidewalk projects.
The projects have been completed and the commission approved spreading the special assessments over 10 years with no interest.
The first project approved was for 318 W. Third, 912 W. Central, 129 N. Emporia, 1514 Edgemoor, 702 Reveille, 535 n. Alleghany and 216 N. Star. The second project was for 507 N. Atchison, 611 N. Topeka, 327 N. Atchison, 325 N. Atchison and 1404 W. Towanda.
Assistant City Engineer said the program has been successful throughout the city.
Next on the agenda was to set a hearing date to spread the assessments for the southwest quadrant sidewalk replacement which was completed. the final cost of this was $144,466.20, with the improvement district cost totaling $103,707.60. The public hearing was set for 7 p.m. June 16.
The difference in the costs was the improvements to sidewalks at intersections making them ADA accessible, for which the city pays.
In other business, the commission appointed Kyle McLaren to the Planning Commission and Oleta McKinney to the Tree Board.
