Jeremy McGowan threw five shutout innings and Chayse Gulzow picked up his second save as El Dorado edged the Denver Cougars 5-3 Monday night at McDonald Stadium.

McGowan was never in trouble as no opposing baserunner reached third base.

Gulzow went the final 1 2/3 innings. He came in with runners at second and third with one out and got out of that jam. In the ninth, he got the first two outs, then ran into trouble. He walked a batter, then allowed a single. He walked another batter to load the bases. However, he got Louis Carrafiello to ground into a fielder's choice to end the game.

The Broncos got a run in the first when Clayton Dalrymple doubled and scored on Morgan Oliver's single.

Cameron Knight opened the second by being hit by a pitch. Trever Ezell walked, and Levi Parker singled in Knight.

Ezell scored on Sam Lane's infield out, and Dalrymple singled in Parker.

Ezell singled in Jacob Spring, who had singled, for the Broncos' run in the sixth.

The Broncos will go to Haysville tonight to face the Aviators.
