  • The official motto of the United States is E Pluribus Unum. Translated this means “from many, one.” The thought is although we are many (racially, socially, and economically) we are one! This places a lot of emphasis on “Unity.”
    Consider the power of unity.
    1. Unity builds. Any organization, a sports team, business, family, or home with members built on unity, is one that will thrive and survive in our world today. This embodies the phrase “united we stand, divided we fall.” The Bible teaches us this principle in life’s relationships. Matthew 12:25 states “...Any kingdom divided against itself is laid waste; and any city or house divided against itself shall not stand.”
    2. Unity strengthens. When any organization or family unit is united, it survives and ultimately becomes stronger. Great things will happen when people come together with a common purpose, goal, or agenda. The first century church had just that unity. The results were remarkable as the gospel of Christ changed the world forever and expanded dramatically in a short time. Acts 2:44 tells us “And all those who believed were together, and had all things in common.”
    3. Unity conquers. Goals, aspirations and victories are achieved when unity is attained. For the Christian, when we are united with Christ, victory awaits the faithful. Paul said, “...If God is for us, who is against us?” (Romans 8:31).
The conclusion from the Bible is straight forward, the power of unity works!
