  • Augusta's softball team got back to its winning ways with two dominant victories at Buhler Monday night. The Orioles won game 1 19-3 and game 2 13-3, both via the run rule.
Casady Marlnee hit a home run for the Orioles in game 2and finished 2-for-4 at the plate. Katy Nordman was 4-for-5 while Abby Tipton and Brooke Eberhardt both were 3-for-4 from the plate. Nicole Becker got the win on the mound to improve her record to 5-0 on the season.
In the opener, Marlnee and Eberhardt both had four hits apiece while Nordman added two. The three of them combined for 11 of the team's RBIs. Eberhardt got the win on the mound to move her record to 5-2.
The Orioles now will prepare for Regionals as they look to make a return trip to State after finishing as the state runner-up a year ago.
On the baseball diamond, the Orioles got a big 11-2 victory in the opener as the offense opened up throughout the lineup. Mason Hiser got another complete-game victory as he concludes a steller regular-season campaign.
In game 2, though, the Orioles lost to Buhler 15-5. The Orioles walked 13 Crusader batters and had six errors in the loss. The Orioles finish with a 10-10 record as they now will prepare for Regionals next week in El Dorado.
