Easton Smith had a big day on the mound in game 1 of El Dorado’s home doubleheader against Buhler, then made the biggest play at the plate in game 2 to lead the Wildcats to two victories.

Smith pitched six innings and allowed just one run to the Crusaders while the Wildcats built a 3-1 lead. Cole Roberts came in to finish off the game with a save as El Dorado won by the 3-1 score.

In the nightcap, Buhler took a 2-0 lead after the top of the third inning. The Wildcats came back with a run in the bottom of the inning, but the Crusaders scored another run in the fourth to extend their lead back to three at 4-1.

Buhler led 5-3 halfway through the fifth when Smith crushed a home run for the Wildcats to give them a 6-5 lead. El Dorado shut down the Crusaders through the final two innings to seal the 6-5 win and the sweep.

It was senior for the Wildcats, who honored Braeden Henderson, Gage Armstrong, Smith and Trevor McCune.
