  • Brandon Smith only played football for two seasons.
And during one of those seasons, he was injured and missed several games.
Still, Smith showed enough in just three games that when his coach, Roger Robben, sent film to Fort Scott Community College's coaches, they saw more than enough to try and snag him on their team. Smith now has a signed letter of intent to join the Fort Scott football team.
"They said that they liked the speed as a defensive back that I have to offer," Smith said.
Despite the inexperience, Smith feels comfortable enough to retain his defensive back position. He spent time at corner for the Orioles and quickly developed skill to go along with his athletic talent to play into his strength of pass coverage.
"They like to grind and work hard and win games," Smith said.
He knows it will be a challenge at the next level, but he's ready for whatever comes his way.
"My expectations are to get better and keep trying to get to the next level," Smith said.
Smith also played basketball, where he thrived for the Orioles, and he competes for the track and field team.
Smith said he will study Pre-med at college.
His parents are Jason and Jennifer Smith.
