  • Bluestem and Douglass split a double-header for the second time this season.
The Lions got an 8-5 win in the first game in Leon Thursday.
Bluestem scored one in the first on singles by John Stiger and Judd Simon. The Lions also scored in the second when Jaydon Wells hit an RBI single to score Chance Gale.
But Douglass scored four runs in the fifth inning to take a 4-3 lead into the sixth inning when Bluestem took control with five runs. Charlie Willhite’s two-run triple was the highlight of the big inning.
Cooper Minnick gave up one run in the seventh before he shut the Bulldogs down to get the win on the mound for the Lions.
Just like the first time the two met, the second game went to Douglass. Judd Simon pitched 3.2 innings and only allowed one run. But a couple of errors cost Bluestem in the second game.
Chase Banister and Cody Holthaus combined for four hits and two RBI to lead the Bulldogs to a 7-1 win.
Hunter Roberts got the win on the mound for Douglass.
