  • The El Dorado Municipal Band is preparing to began another season. This will be the 92nd year for the band, which performs throughout the summer.
    “We are so grateful to have this opportunity to be able to get together and perform music,” said Band President Marlene Avery.
    The band is open to anyone in the community from the eighth grade on up through adult.
    They perform at Forest Park, with most of their concerts beginning at 8 p.m. on Thursdays. The first concert will be on May 29. The first practice will be at 7:30 p.m. May 22 in the El Dorado High School band room. Anyone is welcome to join them.
    Some of their special performances this year will be on Flag Day, an Ice Cream Social June 12, a bake sale July 12 and a performance during the Relay For Life.
    The band is directed by John Templin and Steven Wilson.
