  • All of Flinthills track and field athletes set a person record of some kind at the West Elk track meet. Despite small squads, both the Mustangs' boys and girls teams finished seventh out of an 11-team field.
For the boys, AJ Kennedy finished fifth in the 100-meter and took third in the long jump. Kennedy is a regional qualifier in the 100-m dash.
Kevin Merwin finished seventh in the 1600-m run and took third in the 800-m race. He set personal records in both events.
Tyler Melugin was fourth in the 1600-m run and finished second in the 800-m. He also set new PRs in both events.
In girls action, Payton Gawith placed in three different events, all of which were personal records. Gawith finished third in the 200-dash, fourth in the 100-m dash and fourth in the 400-m dash. She is a regional qualifier in the 100-m and 200-m races.
Lauren Doll won both the 200-m and 400-m races, and she took second in the 100-m dash. She set personal records in all three events and is a regional qualifier for all three, as well.
Ashley Harris set personal bests in the javelin and shot put events for the Mustangs.
