Jesus Christ died FOR sin
The crucifixion account of Jesus Christ is recorded in all four Gospels. Each book presents different aspects of the day that changed the world forever.
Luke’s account records Jesus being crucified with two criminals. There were three crosses and three men who died that day at Calvary. But what a tremendous difference in the death of these three men.
The one thief died IN sin. This man remained rebellious to the very end.
“And one of the criminals who were hanging there was hurling abuse at Him, saying, ‘Are you not the Christ? Save yourself and us!’” (Luke 23:39).
The other thief died TO sin. This man realized the importance of making things right with God before he died.
“And he was saying, Jesus remember me when You come in Your kingdom. And He said to him, ‘Truly I say to you, today you shall be with Me in paradise’.”
Jesus Christ died FOR sin.
“And it was now about the sixth hour and darkness fell over the whole land until the ninth hour, the sun being obscure; and the veil of the temple was torn in two. And Jesus crying out with a loud voice said, ‘Father, into Thy hand, I commit My spirit.”‘ (Luke 23:44-46).
Christians pause every week to remember the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. In addition, the only thing that Jesus left on earth was His blood. His blood and sacrifice can make the vilest of sinners clean - if we will but surrender our will for His and obey Him.
