  • Andover’s girls soccer team jumped out to an early lead and held off Salina South for a 2-0 victory at home Tuesday.
    Makayla Nudo score the Trojans’ first goal on an assist from Delaney Drumright and Madi Hearne. Nudo then returned the favor to Hearne, along with Drumright, as Hearnre scored the Trojans’ second goal for a 2-0 halftime lead.
    Andover finished with 12 shots on goal and held Salina South to seven. Elizabeth Aikman made five saves of shots on frame. Salina goalie Elena Garcia saved four shots on frame.
    Andover’s next match is Monday, April 21 at Ark City.
     
    Andover Central’s girls soccer team was able to take Hutchinson to overtime on the road Tuesday after tying the match 2-2. Neither team scored in either of the two OT periods. In the shootout, Hutch got the final goal to beat the Jaguars 3-2.
    The Jaguars’ next match is at 6:30 Thursday night against Salina Central on the road.
     
    The Circle girls team stayed closed with a tough Winfield team through the first half of play as the Thunderbirds trailed 2-0 at halftime of Tuesday’s match.
    But Winfield proved to be too tough, and the T-birds’ endurance ran low as the Vikings pulled away for a 6-0 victory.
