Rainbows United hosts glow run/walk fundraiser

Approximately 1,000 people attended Saturday night’s Rainbows Glow Run•Walk in Augusta.
The Rainbows United fundraiser was held at The Point Events Center on North Dearborn and kicked off with a 1 mile Family Run, which was followed by a 5K Race.
There were 892 registrants and a total of $18,400 was raised at the event.  The winners of the 5K race were Mark Walsh in the men’s division and Heather Lewis in the women’s.
Local law enforcement officers assisted with blocking streets and making sure everyone was safe.
Michelle Eastman, vice president of marketing and communications, was pleased with the local and out of town participation.
“We’re so excited to have the Rainbows Glow event here in Augusta this year.  We have well over 100 volunteers from Augusta churches and organizations helping us.  They’re helping us to support the children with special needs and their families.”
