  • Augusta’s boys golf team had the good problem of too many Orioles competing for the team lead.
Jake Becker, Breck Winter and Trevar Bevan all shot rounds of 83 at the Wellington Invitational Thursday. After the tiebreakers, Winter came out ahead and took seventh place overall, and Bevan took ninth as the two earned medals.
As a team Augusta finished third with a 338 score. Rose Hill easily won the team title with a 311 score. Hesston was second (334), Goddard-Eisenhower was fourth and Wellington was fifth.
Jacob Urmacher also contributed to the Orioles’ score with a round of 89. Johnny McMurphy shot a 96 and Bobby Bisagno shot a 99 for the Orioles.
Rose Hill dominated the field and finished with four medalists. Jagger Ashby and Nash Lipscomb both shot 74 to lead the pack, but Ashby won the tiebreaker to claim the individual title, leaving Lipscomb with second. Ryan Walker shot an 80 to take fifth, and Parker Austin shot an 83 to take 10th place for the Rockets.
Circle took seventh as a team with a score of 389. The Thunderbirds were led by Colton Berk, who shot a 93.
Andover finished with a team score of 393. The Trojans were led by Chase Oberg, who shot an 84 and missed getting a medal by one stroke.
Andover Central had a team score of 442. The Jaguars were led by Anthony Genovese.
