  • Douglass boys, girls track both take second at home meet

  • The Bulldogs had a successful home track invitational earlier this week as both teams placed second in the standings. The girls scored 190.5 points, just eight points behind Conway Springs for first place. The Douglass boys scored 133 points. Conway won the boys team title as well with 184.5 points.
    On the girls side, Douglass' Hailey Braddy won first place in the 800-meter run with a time of 2 minutes, 40.46 seconds, more than four seconds ahead of second place.
    Suzie Wright easily won the 1600-m run with a time of 5:41.58 for the Bulldogs while teammate Starla Goodman took third (6:28.57).
    In the dashes, Lauren Booth took fourth in the 100-m (13.50) and Faith Rollings took sixth (14.20) for the Bulldogs. Rollings took fourth in the 200-m (29.80) and Booth took eighth (28.00). Kendra Howell was third in the 400-m (1:08.95).
    In the hurdles races, Kayleigh Roberts won the 100-m race (18.23) and took second in the 300-m (55.78).
    Douglass won the 4x800-m relay (11:07.28) and took second in the 4x100-m and 4x400-m relays.
    Out in the field, Naomi Brader won the pole vault title for the Bulldogs with a mark of 9 feet. Emily Valentine took third (7'6"). Brader also took third in the high jump (4'10").
    Kayla Hawkins took third place in the long jump (13'10") while teammate Kailey Hamilton took fifth (13'3.5").
    Sarah Hadjukovic won the girls triple jump with a leap of 30'11". Bader took third (28'8"). Hadjukovic also took second place in the discus throw with a toss of 93'9".
    Cambry McGuire won the javelin title with a throw of 109'4".
    On the boys side, Douglass' Ethan Savoy took fourth place in the 100-m dash with a time of 12.07. Tyler Mabie was second in the 200-m dash with a time of 24.26.
    Cadin Gustafson won the 400-m dash with a time of 55.39. Teammate Dawson Cox took fourth (58.79).
    Gabe Wasson finished in third place for the 1600-m run with a time of 5:25.68.
    Douglass' 4x100-m relay team won with a time of 46.85.
    Gustafson won the long jump title with a leap of 19'4". Teammate Ben Fulghum was second (18'0.5") and Kyle Wright was third (16'5.75").
    Cox was second in the triple jump (37'1") while Savoy was third (34'1").
    Coleman Hart was fourth in the shot put (38'9") for the Bulldogs. Dustin Biggs took second in the discus (128'2") for the Bulldogs.
    Hart also took first place in the javelin with a toss of 131'1".
    Douglass competes at the Conway Spring Invitational meet Friday.
