Augusta senior Bailey Reichardt started the season as well as anyone could do.
Reichardt won first place in all four of her events at the Mulvane Invitational track meet Tuesday. Reichardt led the girls team to a third-place finish in the standings with 65 points. Bluestem took second (72) and Circle took first.
On the boys side, Mulvane won the team title with 111 points, but Augusta was right behind the Wildcats with 107 points. Circle took third (82) and Bluestem had 34 points.
Reichardt won the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.11 seconds. Teammate Alexis Baker was second (13.54) and Kaitlin Markham was third (13.64). Reichardt (27.82), Baker (28.60) and Markham (29.13) finished in the same order in the 200-m dash.
Reichardt also was part of the Orioles' 4x100-m relay along with Baker, Markham and Riley Zerr, which won with a time of 54.38. Bluestem took second (56.69). Reichardt, Zerr, Maddie Hallmark and Katie Cox took first place in the 4x400-m relay with a time of 4:51.85 for the Orioles.
Katie Cox won the 400-m race for the Orioles with a time of 1 minute, 4.62 seconds. Bluestem's Shelby Augur took second (1:07.14) and Circle's Kelley Kirby was third (1:08.93).
Circle's Keagan Davis won the 800-m with a time of 2:38.23. Kirby took second (2:47.79) for the Thunderbirds.
Bluestem's Brenda McCollum won the 1600-m run (5:53.28). Circle's Spencer Jacobson was second (6:00.48). McCollum also won the 3200-m run (12:21.32).
In the 100-m hurdles, Riley Zerr took second place for the Orioles with a time of 17.05. Zerr also took second place in the 300-m hurdles (52.16). Circle's Talia Highbarger won both events with times of 15.02 and 50.99, respectively.
In the field, Bluestem's Anna Solis easily won the pole vault with a mark of 7 feet, 6 inches.
Circle's Baily Albertson won the long jump (14'6.25"). Haleigh Trump took second (13'4.75") for the T-birds.
Bluestem's Montana Korte won the triple jump with a leap of 30'6".
Circle's Taylor Walls won the shotput with a toss of 30'7". Emily Dennison won the discus throw with a mark of 86'3" and the javelin (109') for the T-birds.
On the boys side, Augusta's Chaydon Carter, a state qualifier from last season, won the 100-m dash with a time of 11.04. Raef Hilt took sixth (12.15) and Trevor Jackson took seventh (12.16) for the Orioles.
Carter also won the 200-m dash with a time of 23.00, barely edging teammate Kyler Steinkamp's time of 23.04. Cortlan Jackson took sixth (24.77) for Augusta.
Jayden Reynolds took fourth place in the 400-m dash (56.07) for the Orioles.
Circle's Dylan Brown won the 800-m run (2:16.93) while teammate Jonam Gibbs won the 1600-m run (5:09.14).
Augusta's Jacob Hall took third in the 1600-m run (5:23.11) while teammate Brandon Forsythe was right behind him in fourth place (5:23.86). Hall and Forsythe took fifth (11:47.39) and sixth (11:48.22), respectively, in the 3200-m run.
In the hurdles events, Bluestem's Adam Wolfe won the 110-m race (15.40) while Circle's Nathan Chaplin won the 300-m race (42.61).
Augusta's 4x100-m relay team of Steinkamp, Hilt, Cortlan and Carter won the race with a time of 45.38, edging Mulvane's second-place time of 45.59.
Wright Bosley, Hall, Forsythe and Andrew Orocio took second in the 4x800-m run for the Orioles with a time of 9:38.74.
In the field, Steinkamp, a returning state placer, won with a jump of 6'4", though there were only two jumpers.
Cortlan took first place in pole vault (8'6") and Braden Ames took second (7'6") out of three vaulters for the Orioles.
Circle's Nathan Chaplin won the long jump with a leap of 19'8.25". Teammate Justin Wright took second (19'7"). Augusta's Brandon Smith took third (18'7") and Tyler Hammond took fourth (17'4") for the Orioles.
Bluestem's Stephen Muckenthaler won the triple jump (40'1") while Hammond took second (37'9.5") and Smith took third (37'7").
Augusta's Patrick Wilhite took third in the shot put (39') and Austin Willis took fourth (38'9") for the Orioles. Braiden Allen took third in the discus throw (97'5") for the Orioles, while teammate Andrew Duncan took fourth (93'2").
Augusta will host its home invitational track meet Friday afternoon at Hillier Stadium.
