El Dorado's boys basketball team found the right to strike against Andover Central Saturday night.
The Wildcats turned a 35-31 deficit late in the third quarter into 42-35 lead early in the fourth, and they pulled away from the Jaguars for a 55-46 win to claim the sub-state trophy and earn a trip to the Class 4A state tournament starting Thursday next week.
Zach Lock buried a 3-pointer to pull the Jaguars within three at 46-43 with 1:20 left. El Dorado's Isaac Johnson was subsequently fouled, but missed the front end of a 1-and-1. But it was Travis House who made a big rebound and made a free throw to give El Dorado a two-possession lead.
Central missed a layup the other way, and the Wildcats made throws to clinch the win.
El Dorado outrebounded Central 32-15 for the game and had eight second-chance points.
Central's Darraja Parnell fouled out of the game with 3:04 when the Wildcats led by two. He made a steal, but was called for a foul in the process.
