Herman R. Blann, 82, died on March 4, 2014, at the Newton Medical Center.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m., with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 6, at Petersen Funeral Home, Newton. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery in Wichita.
Herman was born on April 5, 1931 to Nelson and Mary (Parker) Blann in Hampton, Ark.
He was retired from Continental Airlines for 45 + years. He was a quiet, private man who was a great father and very supportive of his children and grandchildren. He truly wanted what was best for his family. He was very passionate about “anything related to the sky”, airplanes and flying.
He is survived by: his three children, Cathie Opala and her husband Gary, Stan and his wife Lisa, Philip and his wife Paula; brother, Dale R. Blann and his wife Glenna; five grandchildren, Andréa, Elise, Celeste, Claire, and Julie; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nelson and Mary Blann; sisters, Marge Welty, Billie Jean Strong, and Joann Hodges.
