Martha D. Talkington, 88, El Dorado, passed away on Monday, March 3, 2014

Martha D. Talkington, 88, of El Dorado, passed away with her family by her side on Monday, March 3, 2014, at Golden Living Center in Pittsburg, Kan., where she moved in December of 2013.

Visitation with family present will be 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, at Kirby-Morris Funeral Home, El Dorado. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday March 8, 2014, at Trinity United Methodist Church in El Dorado, with burial to follow at Walnut Valley Memorial Park Cemetery.

Martha was born to Oliver and Goldie (Clugston) Boyd on Feb. 2, 1926 on the family farmstead near McCune, Kan. She was a paternal twin to sister, Margaret, and had one brother, Robert. She was a graduate of McCune High School in 1946 and lived there until she was married on Feb. 3, 1952 to Noel Talkington and his daughter Nancy Ann. The family moved to El Dorado and Martha worked at Woolworths, then later became a homemaker. She was active in the American Legion Auxiliary, Bluestem Campers, the Sun Chasers, and worked with the Red Cross during blood drives. She had a great love of the outdoors, camping, and crafts.

Surviving family: stepdaughter, Nancy Ann Perez of Ceres, Calif.; twin sister, Margaret Dean Seely and her husband Paul of Weir, Kan.; grandchildren, Michael Keely and Lynn Scott both of California; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded by her husband Noel, her parents, and her brother Robert.
