  • Wanda L. Howard, 82, of Arkansas City, died Tuesday, March 4, 2014, at the South Central Kansas Medical Center.
    The family will greet friends 6 to8 p.m. Friday, at Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home in Arkansas City. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 8, 2014, at the Central Christian Church. Burial will follow in the Riverview Cemetery.
    Wanda was born Aug. 14, 1931, in Arkansas City, to Elvis and Ruth (Olinger) Jones. She was reared and educated in Arkansas City, graduating from Arkansas City High School in 1949. She married Lynden Howard on July 17, 1949, in Arkansas City. The couple moved to Portland, Ore., where they both attended Warner Pacific College. Wanda received her Religious Education Certificate. She was a pastor’s wife for 27 years, serving the Lord alongside her husband in Wakeeney, Kan., Elk City, Okla., and Augusta. Wanda continued her education at Wesley School of Nursing in Wichita, graduating in 1974 with a RN degree. She worked at Augusta Medical Complex and the Presbyterian Manor as a charge nurse and director of nursing for 16 years.
    Survivors include: her husband Lynden of the home; three daughters, Lynnette and husband Earl Windsor of Augusta, Rhonda and husband Rodney Windsor of Arlington, Texas, Heidi and husband Lonnie Fry of Edmond, Okla.; brothers, Jim and wife Renelda Jones, Brenton and wife Mary Jones; sister, Marianna and husband Royce Gibson; 10 grandchildren, Philip Windsor, Brian Windsor, Kara Haagenstad, Matthew Windsor, Lynnea Nelson, Melissa Piatt, Lindsey Hicks, Lance Fry, Luke Fry, and Hannah Fry; 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
    She was preceded in death by her parent; an infant daughter, Beth Lynnea Howard; and a brother, Bob Jones.
    A memorial has been established with the Central Christian Church. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
