The largest cast and crew in 12 years at Flinthills High School is working diligently present one of the most noted musicals of all time, "The Sound of Music!"

Forty-eight students from USD 492 will play members/relatives of the von Trapp family, the Nonnberg Abbey nuns, German soldiers, wait staff and various crew positions.

The set is being built, costumes constructed, actors are rehearsing, sound effects are being chosen, lights moved, props selected, make-up designs completed, publicity finalized and backstage crew assignments established for the upcoming show dates.

Julie Gray McCreight, theatre director, said it has been an experience for the students to portray characters living in one of the most dramatic and horrific time periods in world history. Through this beloved story set in 1938 Austria, they learn in times of turmoil, following what one believes in, could be the most important thing.

To follow one's heart in "The Sound of Music" truly means freedom and hope.

The cast includes: Londyn Doll as Maria, Kevin Merwin as Captain von Trapp, Cody Alvord as Franz, Taylor Williams as Frau Schmidt, Haley Wright as Liesl, Erik Eisenbarth as Friedrich, Sarah Hinnen as Louisa, Dylan Taylor as Kurt, Savannah McCreight as Brigitta, Karly Girty as Marta, Karsyn Flores as Gretl, Holton Nelson as Rolf, Bayley Reiswig as Elsa Schraeder, Bayley Reiswig as Mother Abbes, Alyssa Howard as Sister Berthe, Johnna Nystrom as Sister Margaretta, Bailey Smith as Sister Sophia, Kaleigh Bennefield as Ursula, Culllen Streeter as Max, Javen McCreight as Admiral von Schreiber, Erron Eisenbarth as Herr Zeller, Sarah Sorum as Frau Zeller, Peyten Girty as Baron Elberfeld, Bailey Smith as Baroness Elberfeld and Kenisa Meyer as New Postulant.

The crew includes Stage Manager Courtney Jackson, Assistant Stage Manager Ashley Melugin and set crew, Erik Eisenbarth, Erron Eisenbarth, Makenzie Jackson, Cody Alvord, Taylor Williams, Kaden Taylor, Drew Taylor, Peyten Girty, Javen McCreight and Lauren Dall. The light crew is Trey McNemee and Dylan McDanial; backstage crew is Brandon Hensen, Kaden Taylor, Colton Youngblood, Nick Naill, Payton Gawith, JC Nuncio, Makenzie Jackson, Caden Sangals, Olivia Leslie and Kolton Melugin; sound is Master Brayden Taylor and Hannah Wright; make-up is Master Morgan Brown and Lauren Doll; costumes is Addison Gauthier; and house is Dylan McDaniel, Amanda Bell and Jada Humig.

The vocal director is Blake Long.

During the March 14 performance there will be a spaghetti dinner at 6 p.m. hosted by the Flinthills Booster Club. Dinners are $4.
