  • T-bird boy bowlers win regional title

  • Circle’s boys bowling team dominated at the Eureka Class 5-1A bowling Regional Thursday to earn one of the two team qualifying spots for next week’s state meet.
    Circle won the team title with a pin score of 2560. Circle’s Jerod Hromek led the Thunderbirds’ charge with a whopping 738 series to win the individual championship.
    Tony Treweeke placed ninth for Circle with a series of 631. Colton Carvell bowled a 572 series to take 20th place overall. Cade Liby bowled a 572 series as well, and took 21st. Silas Blaha bowled a 553 series and Jalob Cockrum rounded out Circle’s score with a 507.
    Emporia took second place, just nine pins behind Circle with a score of 2551.
    In the girls side, Erika Slater led the Thunderbirds with a 535 series. The lady Thunderbirds finished with a team score of 2050 to take sixth place.
    The top two girls teams were Topeka West and El Dorado.
    The state meet is this coming week.
