Mulvane grabbed an early lead and got out of El Dorado's reach early to upset the Wildcats at home in their final home game of the season 65-60 Thursday night.
El Dorado had a dismal first half and Mulvane took advantage. Mulvane jumped out in front of El Dorado in the first quarter to lead 18-6 after eight minutes of play.
Mulvane kept the pedal to the metal against the Wildcats in the second quarter outscoring the Wildcats 19-6 to watch their lead swell to 25 points at 37-12.
The Wildcats played inspired basketball in the second half and fought back in the third quarter. El Dorado outscored Mulvane 18-8 to start the second half to cut the deficit to 15 points at 45-30 heading to the fourth quarter.
Both teams opened the offensive floodgates in the fourth and the Wildcats rained in 30 points in eight minutes. Unfortunately for El Dorado Mulvane scored 20 points of their own to hold on to win 65-60.
The Wildcats were led offensively by Alec Hildreth who scored 13 points and went 5-5 from the line. Travis House poured in 13 points that included a 3-pointer and going 2-2 from the line. Jared Haury dropped in 12 points. Garrett Howland had nine points going 7-8 from the line. Wes Haines added seven points that included a 3-pointer and Johnstone Scott added six points.
Mulvane was 25-34 from the line and El Dorado was 16-17 from the line.
The Wildcats will take on Circle in the first game of sub-state playoffs next week.
