While employees with Source Energy Partners were surveying near Whitewater Thursday, a fire was reported near their work site.
While the crew was not responsible for the fire, they were the first to respond.
The brush fire was called in around noon. The field crews converged at the site immediately to contain it and try to rescue cabbies and geophones. More than 20 crew members were fighting the fire and when the extinguishers gave out, they cut branches off the evergreens to beat the flames down. The fire was contained by the time a fire marshal arrived.
The fire was started by the son of the owner of the property and involved 20 to 30 acres.
