Rose Hill's boys basketball team trailed by six at halftime, but a 10-2 run to start the third quarter propelled the Rockets to a 61-55 win Friday night against Mulvane.

Gabe Nickel nailed a big third-quarter 3-pointer to go with three other treys he hit in the second quarter to give RHHS the lead. Logan Welch played a great second half as he scored 12 of his 14 points after intermission. His two long-range 3s in the fourth quarter were the key to Rose Hill holding onto the lead.

Nickel finished with 20 points and played a great defensive game by containing the Mulvane guards on defense. Alex Santo had eight points and Brandon Ma scored six.

Logan Santo scored five points and Ben Priebe added four. Harrison Haydock rounded out the scoring with two points.

The Rockets are back in action Tuesday on the road at Winfield.

Lady Rockets beat Mulvane

Rose Hill used some streaky scoring to knock off Mulvane 57-45 on Homecoming Friday night.

Trailing 14-12 after the first period, Rose Hill rode a 9-0 run to take a 21-14 lead. After leading by five, 49-24 at the half, Rose Hill let Mulvane dominate the early part of the third quarter thanks to a tough pressure defense. The Lady Wildcats roared back for a 33-30 lead just after the break.

But from that point until halfway through the final period the Lady Rockets went on a 19-0 run to put the game away.

Rose Hill was led by Kennedy Myers with 13 points and Autumn Lipscomb who added 10. Kayna Simoneau and Mackenzie Herman each added eight and Kylie Simpson had six points thanks to three long-range jumpers.

Paige Decker was tough inside and scored four points as did Dominique Milsap. Kate Shields added three and Anna Van Driel made a free throw to round out the scoring for the Lady Rockets.
