  • Augusta bowling coach Kellee Roberts will miss this group of seniors next year.
The girls team has four seniors who were integral parts of the team's state championship team from a year ago. All four have been with the progam for four years.
"Today is kind of bittersweet. They're the best girls seniors we've ever had. There are four of them who have been here all four years," Roberts said of the girls. "...They have the most character out of any team I've ever been around."
For the final time this season, the girls competed at home at The Alley in Wichita. And the Orioles went out in style by winning their triangular with El Dorado and Collegiate. Augusta edged the Wildcats 2107-2049. Collegiate scored 1413.
Katy Nordman and Bethany Watson continued to lead the Orioles as they have done their whole careers. Nordman started with eight strikes in the first game on way to a 224 score. Watson had all closed frames except one and finished with three straight strikes for a 203. Watson also bowled a team-high 227 in Game 3 on way to a 605 series. Nordman had a 647 series. Madison Marcotte bowled a 436 series, Ashtyn Flower had a 376 and Mason Kuether had a 373.
On the boys side, the Orioles finished with a score of 2353 to take second. Collegiate had a 2454 to win. El Dorado finished with 2275.
Senior Andrew Orocio led the Orioles with a 660, which included games of 235 and 230. Scott McMurphy bowled a 564, Chase Hallmark a 549 and Quentin Araiza a 546 series for the Orioles.
"Andrew Orioio has been with me all four years. He's been impressive this year. They're struggling a little bit, but they're going to get better. They can put up high scores, but they just aren't consistent," Roberts said of the boys team. "They put in the work."
