  • Like with any Baker tournament, Augusta’s girls bowling team depended on all of the Orioles doing well if it had any shot at winning the team title.
The Orioles started Saturday’s meet with six strikes, one by each Oriole, and bowled a 245 for the first game of 12 frames.
That was a good sign, because the Orioles finished as strongly as they started. Augusta won the team title by putting up a 2413 score, beating second-place Wichita Southeast (2387) to win the team championship trophy. Augusta topped 200 in two othergames; El Dorado topped 200 three times, Maize had two 200 games and a small handful of other teams topped 200 just once.
Katy Nordman was the anchor for the Orioles in the fifth and 10th frames. She had 26 strikes and five spares. Bethany Watson had a total of 18 strikes, and2 spares in 24 frames in the 4th and 9th spots.
Madison Marcotte had seven strikes times picked up eight spares in 24 frames. Abby Emmitt added three strikes and seven spares in 21 frames. Ashton Flower struck twice and picked up seven spares.
Mason Kuether, who is still bowling left-handed due to an injury with her right wrist, added a strike and two spares in 10 frames.
On the boys side, the Orioles finished in the middle of the pack and took 8th place with a team score of 2531. Wichita Northwest won the team title (2719). The Circle Thunderbirds were right behind Northwest with a 2713 team score to take second place.
Tuesday is senior day at The Alley for the Oriole bowling teams.
