  • It was interesting to listen to two Augusta city council members at their last meeting relate how some of the motel tax petition signers they spoke with were not told the truth. The truth was the motel tax was not going to raise any Augusta resident's taxes. It was a tax only upon the guest who stayed at the motel.

I would like to thank the Augusta High School boys who cleared off my driveway and walk. What a wonderful thing to do!

Editor’s viewpoint: We received several complaints about the Augusta city work crews clearing the streets and leaving snow piled in driveways. As was explained last year, the plow operators don’t have the time to clean out each and every driveway. Our city crews are working around the clock to clear our roadways. There are cities that have a policy of only clearing major streets. Things could always be worse.
