  • At the intersection of Dearborn and Belmont (in Augusta), there are 10 to 12 dead pine trees, about 20 to 30 feet in height, which have been dead for at least two years. The location looks trashy and is actually a hazard. Recently a strong wind broke one of the dead trees and it fell into the street. Fortunately a vehicle wasn’t passing at the time...I have spoken with our street department several times and they advised that it is the property owner’s problem. My feeling is that if the property owner does not clean it up, the city does and the cost is added to his property tax.

Many thanks to the Augusta High School wrestling team for the act of kindness in shoveling my driveway out on Tuesday in the snow and cold. From a very appreciative senior citizen.

Please check your head lights, turn lights, parking lights, tail lights, and emergency lights on your cars, trucks, and motorcycles. They do burn out. For your safety and others, check them often.

Why is it that our children can’t read a Bible in school, but they can in prison?
