Sometime between 3:30 p.m. Jan. 31 and 2:25 p.m. Feb. 2, unknown person(s) broke into a City of El Dorado building.
The break-in was discovered after someone found a city of El Dorado vehicle dumped on property at 50th and Haverhill, said Det. John Stewart.
“We discovered the building it was supposed to be in was broken into,” Stewart said.
In addition to the vehicle, they found numerous power towels and spools of copper wire missing.
Stewart said they are still looking to see what else may have been stolen.
Anyone who has any information can report it to the police department at 321-9120 or submit an anonymous tip at www.eldoradocrimestoppers.com.
Stewart said he has been asked how the tips can be anonymous with the technology, and they think the police track them.
“All tips are filtered through a call center in Texas,” he explained.
The center does not submit to caller ID and they take the information reported and assign the person a “tip” number for tracking. This tip number is used to pay any rewards.
“It would be of no benefit to us to ‘track or trace’ the information,” Stewart said. “It would jeopardize the program and then no one would be willing to assist us.”
Tips also can be submitted through the police department Facebook page at www.facebook.com/eldoradopolicedepartment.
