A day after taking a tough loss in the El Dorado Lady Cat Classic tournament, Augusta's girls basketball team bounced back with a 69-20 blowout victory against Wichita West.

The Orioles had their largest offensive output of the season in the win Friday. Augusta now will play in the fifth-place game at 3 p.m. Saturday afternoon against either El Dorado or Collegiate.

The Orioles led 20-11 after the first quarter, but only allowed nine the remaining three quarters.

Augusta's shooters were able to find their stroke Friday. Bre Burkett hit a 3-pointer and scored a team-high 15 points for the Orioles. Bailey Reichardt hit three field goals and scored 11 points. Casady Marlnee scored 10 points. Abby Tipton made three field goals and had seven points. Kylie Wesbrooks and Maddy Leedom both added six points apiece. Baylee Johnston, Morgan Kirk and Carly Sears all added four points apiece. Hope Travaille scored two points.

The Orioles' big offensive game came a day after Augusta and Mill Valley worked through a defensive battle. Augusta had a 6-0 lead after the first quarter, but Mill Valley led 12-8 at halftime.

Augusta managed a 23-19 lead in the fourth quarter, but Mill Valley outscored Augusta down the stretch for a 31-29 victory.

The Orioles had one last possession with 4 seconds to try and tie it, but turned it over.

Marlnee led the Orioles with 16 points. Burkett scored four. Leedom hit a 3-pointer for her three. Wesbrooks, Reichardt and Tipton all added two points apiece.
