  • SCARF has received a second donation from Westar Energy Foundation for the capital campaign for Sunshine Children’s Home

  • Sunlight Children's Advocacy and Rights Foundation received two donations from Westar Energy Foundation in support of the Sunlight Children's Home.
    They received $5,000 in December and had previously received $2,500 in December 2012.
    "We were thrilled to receive a second donation from Westar Energy Foundation for our capital campaign for Sunshine Children’s Home,” said Suzi Thien, SCARF executive director.
    The Westar Foundation takes the well-being of its neighbors in the community it serve seriously.
    "Your organization is an integral part to improve the quality of life enjoyed by all citizens," the letter awarding the latest grant stated.
    Westar Energy Foundation targets youths and support programs designed to achieve the following goals: improve academic performance of youths and prepare youths for the world of work and community leadership.
    "It is our hope that with this mission we can maximize our impact by supporting programs that prepare youths to successfully participate in our society and improve the communities in which they live," the letter stated.
