  • Bradford Memorial Library is offering a new story time, specifically designed for the younger kids.
As Pre-School Story Time started back up this past week after a short break, a new program, Toddler Time, was also started.
The program got its start because a lot of kids under 3 were coming to Pre-School Story Time, which is for 3 to 5 year old kids. After asking some parents, an interest in a younger program was discovered.
"It's real loosely structured," said Teresa Leonard, with the library's Children's Department.
It will include songs, books and finger plays, as well as bubbles for the kids.
The goal is to give parents ideas and activities to get their youngsters ready to read.
"Part of learning to read is just knowing what a book is and how to turn pages," Leonard said.
Toddler Time is held at 10 a.m. every Friday. While it only lasts about 20 to 30 minutes, the room will be open until 11 a.m. for the free time.
"I want free time afterward for kids to play and parents to visit and get to know each other," she said. "The main thing is for it to be a fun time in the library."
The programs also will include a lot of repetition for the kids, which will include youth under 3 years of age.
For more information on this program or similar programs, contact the library at 316-321-3363.
