In the final ticks of Friday night's game, Connor Hurst came up with the biggest shot.

Hurst buried a highly contested 3-pointer from the wing with :01 left on the clock to lift Augusta's boys basketball team to a 58-55 victory against Wellsville in thrilling fashion. Hurst dribbled to his right and hit the shot off a curl and a slight fadeaway as there was a hand in his face.

Coach David Stephenson said he called a timeout after a free throw and set up the winning play.

The Orioles trailed 10-2 early, but Stephenson said the Orioles calmed down a little, and the game was back-and-forth the rest of the way. Stephenson said that the Orioles were able to withstand hot shooting from Wellsville all game long.

With the win, the Orioles advance to the Baldwin Invitational tournament championship at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, when they will play Baldwin High School, which defeated Bonner Springs 72-60.
